CBD Hemp Flower: A Complete Guide

Updated: Mar 26, 2022

Of all the products made from CBD, the one that seems to surprise our customers the most is CBD Flower. Many people have come to find that flower is what they like and favor it over Oils and Gummies. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about what flower is, how to use it, and what the benefits are.

What is CBD Flower?

CBD Flower is just the flowering top (bud) of the hemp plant that looks, smells and tastes just like marijuana bud. It is the flower that produces the high concentrated bud that is commercially used, and is produced by the female plant. The male plants produce pollen, and are usually discarded once the female plants have been pollinized.

Hemp flower differs from marijuana due to the concentration of THC, which is the psychoactive chemical that give you the euphoric high. Hemp bud is 0.3% Delta 9 THC or less, so you can purchase CBD Flower and enjoy the smoking of Cannabis without the high feeling.

Effects and benefits of CBD Flower:

CBD works in the body by reacting with receptors called the Endocannabinoid System, which are spread throughout our (and our pets) bodies, including the brain. It is connected to the nervous system, and has different regulatory functions.

Although marijuana has been used for many reasons, CBD can be used without having the psychotropic effects on the mind.

How to use and consume CBD Flower:

The most common way to use CBD Flower is to smoke it directly from the bud. By smoking it, you absorb the CBD right into the bloodstream, which can reach all the receptors very quickly, compared to ingesting it, which has to travel though the digestive system and can take much longer to work. Rolling the hemp into a cigarette (called a Pre-roll), is the most common way, but using a pipe is also popular. There are also commercially made Hemp Boxed Cigarettes that look very similar to regular tobacco cigarettes, which can be more discrete. Some people cook it in a fat, like butter, and use it in food, which absorbs slower than smoking. A newer method to arrive is the vape pen, which can hold the flower in a tube and is smoked in single doses. There are also electronic version of theses pens as well.

Choosing a Flower to use.

Hemp flower is known to contain the highest amount of aromatic terpenes in all plants in nature. Terpenes produce the smells and tastes we have in all foods, like lemons and pineapples. + Cannabis plants have over 140 terpenes, but only 17 are the most common and prevalent. This dense concentration of terpenes allows for some very pungent and flavorful flower! Some of the scents and flavors include earthy, sweet, skunky, piney, citrusy, spicy or herbal, depending on the concentration of terpenes.

CBD flowers are crossbred to produce certain terpene profiles that creates the smell and flavor unique for that strain. Lifter has always been one of our best sellers in flowers, and has a wonderful flavor which is due to the terpene profile.

I always advise our customers to first smell a number of varieties and try the one that appeals to them the most. Once you have tried one, I suggest trying different strains and see how they compare, until you find a strain that works best for you.

We have a wide variety of over 15 strains, both in pre-rolls and bagged by weight, stop by our site and see what flower you might like!
